a Tibetan unit of measurement, probably equal to a bushel.  +
a ceremonial offering made of tsampa (see bdow for explanation) mixed with butter, raisins and sugar or jaggery (brown sugar). Chemar offered during Losar (Tibetan new year) is much more elaborate than those offered on other occasions. When offering chemar, chang must accompany it.  +
a Tibetan wooden cup. A woman's cup is slightly smaller than a man's and is also sljghtly different in shape too.  +
a coat-like Tibetan gown worn by both sexes. Men's chupas differ slightly from those of women both in style and the way they are worn. Women's chupas have undergone a drastic change in style since 1959, in that they have become much easier to wear and also require less cloth. a small leather bag used for kneading tsampa dough. It is common in every house but is also the trademark of beggars.  +
powdered form of roasted barley; a staple food of the Tibetans. People nowadays make it out of roasted wheat and maize, but still call it tsampa.  +
a gorilla-like animal found in Tibet and the adjoining Himalayan regions. This is probably what some adventurers have called yeti, the abominable snow man.  +
a cross between a yak and a cow. To an unaccustomed eye yak, dzo (see below) and dri might look alike.  +

(17??-1800) One of Shabkar's root teachers. He was a highly accomplished master thoroughly versed in the teachings of both the Nyingma and Sarma traditions; he instructed Shabkar in the mind-training teachings and gave him many empowerments from the cycles of Nyingma treasures, including the Longchen Nyingthig of the vidyadhara Jigme Lingpa.  +
