Because its body consists of the jewel of the dharma,<br>Because it is the supreme lord of human beings,<br>And because it has the appearance of a precious form,<br>It is like a precious [representation], a king, and an image.  +
anāsravaṃ vyāpyavināśadharmi ca<br>dhruvaṃ śivaṃ śāśvatamacyutaṃ padam<br>tathāgatatvaṃ gaganopamaṃ satām<br>ṣaḍindiyārthānubhaveṣu kāraṇam  +
Being the uncontaminated all-pervasive matrix of indestructible nature<br>That is everlasting, peaceful, eternal, and imperishable,<br>Tathāgatahood, just as space, is the cause<br>For the wise experiencing the objects of the six sense faculties.  +
[Though] always serving as the cause for his powerful form and objects<br>Being seen, for his perfect and pure discourses’ being heard,<br>For the pure discipline of the tathāgatas being smelled,<br>For the supreme flavor of the great and noble genuine dharma’s being tasted,  +
vibhūtirūpārthavidarśane sadā<br>nimittabhūtaṃ sukathāśuciśrave<br>tathāgatānāṃ śuciśīlajighraṇe<br>mahāryasaddharmarasāgravindane  +
Through nature, cause, fruition,<br>Function, endowment, manifestation,<br>And its permanence and inconceivability,<br>The buddhabhūmi is determined.  +
svabhāvahetuphalataḥ karmayogapravṛttitaḥ<br>tannityācintyataścaiva buddhabhūmiṣvavasthitiḥ  +
For the pleasurable touch of samādhi’s being relished,<br>And for the principle that is profound by nature being realized,<br>The Tathāgata, being the ultimate depth of very subtle thinking,<br>Is free from [being] a cause, just as space.  +
samādhisaṃsparśasukhānubhūtiṣu<br>svabhāvagāmbhīryanayāvabodhane<br>susūkṣmacintāparamārthagavharaṃ<br>tathāgatavyoma nimittavarjitam  +
karma jñānadvayasyatadveditavyaṃ samāsataḥ<br>pūraṇaṃ muktikāyasya dharmakāyasya śodhanam  +
In brief, the function of the two wisdoms<br>Is to be understood as this—<br>The perfection of the [vi]muktikāya<br>And the purification of the dharmakāya.  +
The vimukti[kāya] and the dharmakāya<br>Are to be understood in two ways[425] and in one way—<br>As being uncontaminated, as being all-pervasive,<br>And as being the unconditioned matrix.  +
vimuktidharmakāyau ca veditavyau dvirekadhā<br>anāsravatvādvyāpitvādasaṃskṛtapadatvataḥ  +
anāsravatvaṃ kleśānāṃ savāsanani rodhataḥ<br>asaṅgāpratighātatvājjñānasya vyāpitā matā  +
[The vimuktikāya] is uncontaminated because of the cessation<br>Of the afflictions together with their latent tendencies.<br>Wisdom is held to be all-pervasive<br>Because it is without attachment and without obstruction.  +
asaṃskṛtatvamatyantamavināśasvabhāvataḥ<br>avināśitvamuddeśastannirdeśo dhruvādibhiḥ  +
Being unconditioned is due to having<br>The nature of being absolutely indestructible.<br>This character of indestructibility is the brief statement<br>That is explained by "everlasting" and so on.  +
nāśaścaturvidho jñeyo dhruvatvādiviparyayāt<br>pūrtirvikṛtirucchittiracintyanamanacyutiḥ  +
Destructibility is to be understood as four kinds<br>By virtue of the opposites of "everlasting" and so on,<br>Which are putridity, sickness, extinction,<br>And death in an inconceivable manner.  +
tadabhāvāddhruvaṃ jñeyaṃ śivaṃ śāśvatamacyutam<br>padaṃ tadamalajñānaṃ śukladharmāspadatvataḥ  +
