Any utterance that is meaningful, is connected with the words of the dharma,<br>Relinquishes the afflictions of the three realms,<br>And teaches the benefit of peace<br>Is the speech of the seer, while others are its opposite. +
Whatever is said by those with undistracted minds<br>Who recognize the victor alone as their teacher<br>And accords with the path of the accumulations for attaining liberation<br>Should be respected as much as [the words of] the seer. +
The intelligent whose minds have faith in this object of the victors<br>Become the vessels for the collection of qualities.<br>Through possessing the desire for these inconceivable qualities,<br>They outshine the attainment of merit of all sentient beings. +
In this world, there is no one wiser than the victor, <br>No other one anywhere who is omniscient and properly knows supreme true reality in its entirety.<br>Therefore, one should not deviate from the sūtras taught to be definitive by the seer himself.<br>Otherwise, this will harm the genuine dharma through destroying
the guidance of the sage. +
The entirety of deprecating the noble ones and blaming the dharma taught by them<br>Is the affliction of those with foolish character, created by views that entail clinging.<br>Therefore, one’s mind should not be mingled with what is stained by views that entail clinging —<br>[Only] a clean garment can be dyed but not one that is tainted by grease or dirt. +
Because of weak intelligence, because of lacking faith in what is pure, because of relying on false pride,<br>Because of having the character of being obscured through destroying the genuine dharma, because of grasping at the expedient meaning as being true reality,<br>Because of coveting gain, because of being under the sway of views, because of relying on those who hate the dharma,<br>Because of keeping at a distance from those who maintain the dharma, and because of desiring what is inferior, the dharmas of the arhats are rejected. +
The wise should not be as deeply afraid of fire, terrible snake poison, murderers, or lightning<br>As they should be of the loss of the profound dharma.<br>Fire, snakes, enemies, and lightning may [at most] end one’s life,<br>But one would not wander to the most fearsome realm of those in Avīci through such causes. +
Even persons who, repeatedly relying on bad friends, [injured] a buddha with bad intention,<br>Committed the acts of killing their mother, father, or an arhat, or split the highest community<br>Will be swiftly liberated from these [actions] through being absorbed in the meaning of the dharma,<br>But how could there be liberation in those whose minds are hostile toward the dharma? +
Having properly expounded the seven topical points (the [three] jewels, the pure basic element,<br>Stainless awakening, the qualities, and activity), through the merit I obtained by that,<br>May [all] beings behold the seer Amitāyus endowed with infinite light<br>And, having seen him, attain supreme awakening by virtue of the stainless eye of dharma arising [in them]. +
