Just as a pond with stainless water’s having become abundant with trees and lotus flowers,<br>Just as the full moon’s having been released from the mouth of Rāhu,<br>And just as the sun, with its rays’ having been liberated from the defilements of clouds and so on,<br>This very [buddhahood] appears as liberation because it is endowed with stainless qualities.  +
The state of the victor is like the chief of sages, honey, a kernel, gold,<br>A treasure of excellent jewels, and a big fruit tree,<br>Like a stainless precious representation of the Sugata,<br>A supreme lord of the earth, and a golden image.  +
One’s own welfare and the welfare of others consist of the ultimate kāya<br>And the seeming kāya that is based on it, respectively.<br>Due to representing the states of freedom and maturation, respectively,<br>They represent the fruition, which is classified as sixty-four qualities.  +
Just as the king of animals is never frightened<br>And roams about fearlessly among the animals in the jungle,<br>The lion who is the lord of sages dwells amid his retinue <br>Independently, indifferently, firmly, and powerfully.  +
The teacher is without mistakenness and chatter,<br>Is never bereft of mindfulness,<br>Lacks a mind not resting in meditative equipoise,<br>Is free from notions of diversity,  +
Lacks indifference without examination,<br>His striving, vigor, mindfulness,<br>Prajñā, liberation, and vision<br>Of the wisdom of liberation never deteriorate,  +
His actions are preceded by wisdom,<br>And his wisdom in the three times is unobscured.<br>These eighteen are the guru’s qualities<br>That are unique compared to others.  +
The seer lacks mistakenness, chatter, mindlessness, mental agitation,<br>Notions of difference, and natural indifference, while there is never any deterioration<br>Of his striving, vigor, mindfulness, pure stainless prajñā and liberation,<br>And vision of the wisdom of liberation (seeing all objects to be known).  +
He engages in the three actions with regard to objects that are preceded by omniscience,<br>And the operation of his vast wisdom is always unobstructed with regard to the three times. <br>Thus is this state of the victor, which is endowed with great compassion and realized by the victors.<br>By virtue of this realization, he fearlessly turns the great wheel of the genuine dharma in the world.  +
What is the true nature of earth and so on is not found as the true nature of space,<br>And the characteristic qualities of space (such as being unobscured) are not [found] in forms [either].<br>[Still,] earth, water, fire, wind, and space are equal in being common to [all] the worlds,<br>But the unique buddha [qualities] are not in the least common to the worlds.  +
His feet are firmly placed, marked with wheels,<br>And have broad [heels] and nonprotruding [ankles].<br>His fingers and toes are long,<br>Joined by webs on hands and feet.  +
His skin is soft and youthfully tender,<br>His body has seven convex surfaces,<br>His calves are antelope-like,<br>And his private parts are concealed as [they are] with an elephant.  +
His upper body is lionlike, <br>The flesh between the shoulders is broad and compact,<br>His shoulders are evenly rounded,<br>And his arms are rounded, soft, and not uneven.  +
The ultimate body <br>Is the support of the fulfillment of one’s own [welfare].<br>The conventional body of the seer<br>Is the support of the fulfillment [of the welfare of] others.  +
His arms are hanging [down to the knees],<br>[His body] has a pure halo of light around it,<br>His neck is stainless like a conch,<br>And his jaws are like those of the king of animals.  +
His forty teeth are equally [distributed],<br>Very bright, and well arranged.<br>His teeth are pure and of equal [size],<br>And his eyeteeth are very white.  +
His tongue is big and tastes the supreme taste,<br>Which is infinite and inconceivable.<br>The voice of the self-arisen is like that of a kalaviṅka [bird]<br>And has the melodious tone [of the voice] of Brahmā.  +
His eyes are beautiful like blue water lilies, with eyelashes like a bull,<br>His face is handsome, endowed with the white immaculate ūrṇā hair,<br>His head [is crowned by] an uṣṇīṣa, and the skin<br>Of the supreme of beings is pure, delicate, and has a golden hue.  +
His body hairs, each one separate by itself, are soft and subtle,<br>Pointing upward from the body and curling to the right.<br>His hair is [colored] like a stainless blue sapphire,<br>And he is [well proportioned] like the maṇḍala of a perfect nyagrodha tree.  +
The ever-excellent and incomparable body of the great seer<br>Is firm and possesses the strength of Nārāyaṇa.<br>The teacher declared these thirty-two [marks]<br>Of infinite splendor to be the signs of the lord of humans.  +
